Works based righteousness ??  There is none !!!  We are not made righteous by our works, for none of our works is able to be found righteous outside of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Who are these clowns who attempt to make Americans and America a bunch of petty liars and lousy actors in order to satisfy their sick understanding of The Way of God ??  Rick Perry, Michelle Bachmann, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, and yes Mitt Romney what do they have in common, besides being hypocritical "conswervatives"- no that is not a typo, they swerve all over the place trying to prove how conservative they are- they try to make us believe that by acting like they believe in God they actually believe in God.

They want us to believe that by our works we can be made acceptable to their god.  They are right in that, by our works we can be made acceptable to their god.  I don't want to be acceptable to their god.  Their god is a liar, he is the father of lies. Their god has many names: mammon, molech,satan,... but their god is always based upon their beliefs.  Which are based upon how much of something they may have, or how they may get something from another, or how much pleasure they may achieve in their lives without thought of the cost to others.

I read where the candidates want to impose their religious beliefs upon this country as if they are being elected as the God of our nation, instead of as the POTUS.  They are not God, nor do they speak for Him when they spout their legalistic religious bull crap.  The Bible speaks for God His word, His Way, by His prophets and Son, who then allowed His Apostles to share what He gave to them to share.

How many times did Jesus Christ warn the Pharisees about using religion as a cover for their evil hearts ??  How many times have the modern Pharisees-The "conswervative" self righteous, self serving, self promoting liars- who use Christ's Holy Name in vain for their political gain said that by allowing; abortions, homosexuals, liberals, socialists, taxing the wealthy, free choice, hating certain types of people-not behaviors of people but people themselves-,  people the right to believe as they will, this country is not serving God ??

They are trying to make God in their image instead of accepting Him as He is.  They are worshipping the created instead of the Creator.  Oh they will show passages of the law and say this is what God decrees as right, technically they are right.  So if they choose to live by that law, they will be judged by Him who is perfect and kept the law, Jesus Christ.  They fail to connect the dots and see that Jesus Christ Himself said none are able to keep the law except He who issued the law.  So if they choose to try and keep the law instead of live in His Grace they will answer to Him for their imperfections.

Now this does not mean we are free to sin as we will and still be acceptable to our Lord Jesus Christ.  It means we allow Him to change us and write His Law upon our hearts and mind and walk in His Way.  Not as a self righteous sinner who tries to rule over others with passages from a book of Love they do not understand.  But as His willing slave who knows Him and His Way and is thankful to God for Him and the Salvation He brings.

This is not to say that all in the GOP/TP are evil self centered sinners.  It is to say that unless they stand up to the party they back they are as guilty for allowing the evil to continue in the name of their prosperity.  A little leaven leavens the whole lump as Jesus Christ said.

I really hope people will read this and understand that I'm not  saying sin isn't harmful.  I'm saying we can't make people not sin by our own beliefs, it has to be of their own free will which is something the GOP/TP'ers seem to want to take away.  Thus the Title: A Group of Works Based Righteous Liars ??

I hope they will show me that they are not that at all.

As always your comments are welcome.  Please do not attack your fellow Viners.

I'm tired of the liars who claim to be of Him when they are clearly not of Him at all.

Talk the talk, walk the walk. Jesus Christ said we are cleansed through Him for His Righteouness is imputed to us. Our works do not make us righteous, they make us prideful if we rest in our works.

His Works made us Righteous to His Father when we repent in Him. We rest in His work knowing His work is perfect where ours is not.

katt:

I don't think they are all like that, I've met some conservatives who are true conservatives who can't stand what the GOP/TP party has become.

I'm hoping they will start busting the balloons of the liars in the leadership and bring back the love of America they used to have.

Good article, CG. American politics has spiraled down into a religious debate, which is dangerous and stupid. More Americans need to speak out about that as you have and continue to do. Nicely done, my friend.

Nothing "righteous" but certainly a lot of ignorance.

In my usual "Christian" bashing - I must say that CGPa presents a more level headed approach than many of the christians on the vine. As I am proud to say - I'm a recovering christian. Yet, Cowboy, you are a refreshing breath of wind. You're the type of Christian I can support. Good Article.

The ones that scream the loudest over religion and politics are the ones I can't stand the most. But...I heard something interesting from Dylan Ratigan this morning, who mentioned that the higher income religious nuts are screaming louder because they want the discussion to remain on personhood, abortion, gay rights (bashing), and anything but the likes of the type of capitalism that is now being brought to light with Romney and Bain. And, the media is assisting them with their cause by continuing to put so much coverage on religion in politics.

Rather, these are issues that are important, to be sure, but we need to focus on the vulture capitalism that has been brought to light. Capitalism, at its best is producing something to sell, we buy it, they get rich, everyone's happy. Capitalism as Romney sees it is evil - it is taking everything out of the marketplace - extraction - and while the carcasses of companies are all that are left, Bain, Romney and their ilk are the ones getting the money which is then NOT being reinvested in the free market system in a healthy, productive way.

Don't understand it completely, but he explained it so it sure made sense to me.

Meanwhile, back to the religious nuts - I've seen this come on for years, and religion and guns is why I switched from red to blue.

Common, bob, hit me.

The contemporary loud mouthed christians to whom you refer are ignorant of the bible and profess the creed of the "prosperity gospel". You point to a fine tuning of the argument, but it will never see the life of day with the prosperity gospel folks. Why?, because they really believe the wrong stuff. They preach Jesus but quote Leviticus. The evangelicals who populate the opinion page in my rural town, rarely - if ever - mention Jesus. They endlessly quote OT and God said this and that. What they believe almost to a man is that God WILL reward them with earthly goods and they'll be damned to let the poor inherit the earth.

I've always been blue and a proud recovering christian.
