Random thoughts

Random thoughts as I perceive our country falling into the Fascism we once fought against.

Didn't America used to be the land of the Free, The Home of the Brave ??  What happened ??  When did we become the home of the fearful and the land of the controlled ??

When did fearing what some terrorists might do, become more important than leading a life free of government intervention into our personal lives ?? Why have we allowed some terrorist scum bags to frighten the public into allowing our "leaders" to enact laws that allow the government to take away our rights of personal freedoms and choices ??

Have we forgotten that to hand over our rights is to say we do not want to take our chances, we want the government to decide what is right or wrong.  That is a far reaching decision made by some who have no guts, and wet their pants at the thought of having to tough out the times that sometimes come in free nations.  To stand firm and say NO !!!  I don't want the government to tell me who I can date, who I can talk to, where I can go, what is acceptable as far as my political and religious beliefs !!!  I don't want the government to be my big brother and decide who I can listen to or who I can't listen to.

I'm not a conservative by any means- at least not by todays standards- but I believe in conserving the freedoms we have.  I believe in being liberal with freedom and conservative with the laws put forth.  Especially laws that give wealthy people more rights and power than working class people.  I don't believe all wealthy people are evil, any more than I believe all evil people are wealthy.  I do believe that wealth that is allowed to corrupt our society is evil, and I also think that is something the founding fathers also knew.  That is why they made laws against corporate control.

In my way of thinking when Eisenhower warned us about the military industrial complex, he was warning us that like Rome, the powers in charge would become mad and corrupt our nation into what it has become.  A waring, greedy, self serving, profit taking, immoral bed of idolators who worship the created instead of The Creator.  Yet calls itself a Christian Nation, when it defies what Christ calls on us to do to be in Him.

I love America, but I hate what she is becoming under the leadership we have had the last 44 years.  Self righteous, self serving, self destructing all under the guise of gaining wealth and power.

We trade with nations like Vietnam where so many of my friends died.  But mouth a hatred for Communism, we send our work over to Communist nations because the labor is cheaper and don't realize that soon they will own us, and we will not be able to compete unless we become like them.  Which is what the greedy desire anyway, because they can't see beyond their luxuries to the disaster they are helping to create.

I just wish the right and the left would see that America is strong when United, but weak when divided.  My time here is growing short, but my children and grandchildren, they still have the rest of their lives.

Just the way I see it.

cowboygrandpa...you echo my thoughts exactly. I am fearful for my children of the future that is in store for them (both boys in their 20's) in a world where the acceptable norm seems to be to openly stab people in the back and be praised for it.

When my older son told me he did not want to bring any children into this world because he feels the world is nothing but violence, greed and revenge, I was surprised, saddened, and heartbroken.

The last few years, though, after reading about all of the upheaval, the requirements that are being put on possible new hirees, the downgrading & receiving salaries that don't even come close to covering the necessities of life, the loosing of privacy in almost all arenas of life (the advent of tracking devices on shopping carts, the tracking of your movements in malls-stores while you shop through your cell phone & videos of your facial expressions, the firing of employees just prior to being eligible for retirement benefits, etc., I am starting to think that my son has the right of it. What would his children have to live for except for the robotic life our leaders are condemning them to.

Sometimes, you learn so much more by making mistakes and, without intervention, you take whatever steps you need to correct the mistake yourself. This is no longer the way of things. If you make one tiny mistake, it seems your whole world knows about it and it is blown up into something that it never was to begin with...and then you are punished for it over and over again. It seems to me that independent thinking and creativity are being thrown out the window.

Sometimes, I feel sorry for myself, but when I think about what my sons are going to have to live through, I breath a sigh that I was able to experience open freedom and not just the verbal freedom with the hidden bars around you that we are all experiencing today.
