What is the cost of greed ?? Well according to The Holy Bible it is ones life here on earth as well as in eternity. For the focus of ones life should not be: wealth, sex, property, drugs, alcohol, fame, pleasures of the flesh, materialism, ... Those are things that take away from the purpose of one's life. We are put here to serve Him and His will, not us and our will. But we are given that free will of choice, and one can see just how far mankind has traveled from His Way to our own way.
We as a world of people favor leadership that enbables people to be "successful" in their view of the world. Most want a world that allows them their ways but restricts other people from the ways they disagree with. That in its self is a form of greed, because we think we know what is best for everyone else by simply making sure they follow what we want them to do. I have guidelines that I believe to be true, so I have to live by them or else I'm untrue to the beliefs I hold so dearly. I happen to believe that material wealth is not something to be worked for- or chased after as the goal of ones life- because ones life is more than what they can buy or own. One cannot buy another day of a quality life. Ones soul is owned by what one has worked for, because ones life revolves around those things so the happiness of life is based upon what is owned, cars, houses, jewelery, clothes, the newest fads, or gadgets, they simply must have the newest widget or they feel they are somehow deprived.
Haahaahahahaahaaaa, how the greed merchants prey upon the people like that, and really depend upon them to continue on in the lifestyle that promotes it. When I stepped away from that type of life I found His Joy, because He has given me back my soul and my spirit leaps within me at His promise of salvation for all eternity with Him.
No I'm not a poor man, with no money and in poverty, that is not what He wants from we that are His. Nor am I wealthy in that I have to work for my daily bread and if I stop working I would starve. But I have His daily bread in His word and for that I'm wealthy beyond the measuring of this earth. So I do not need more than I'm shown by Him and allow Him to say what is enough here on earth for me, for it is easy to be seduced by the things of this world- I was once a full fledged memeber of the all I can get club, not money so much but the pleasures of the flesh and in particular the lust of women and the desire to escape the pains of this life through alcohol or drugs and sex- so I do include myself in the need to submit ones self unto Him and be vigilant as to who it is we elect to govern us.
The politicians in our country all subscribe to varying degrees of greed and excess as being needed to drive capitalism. They are wrong !!! I work everyday because I want to provide for my family and also to provide for others. I don't have to have the newest or the best to be happy, I just need to know that His will is being done in me and that He is being glorified for the changes in me, He is my Joy. Now I understand that very few people will agree with this, because they are still in the way of the flesh, but it is not for the instantaneous results that I write these articles. If it changes the way one see's things right away, so much the better, The Holy Spirit is working and one is being called to witness the Truth of Jesus Christ and his Way. If not, that is alright as well, because the seed is planted and discussion may come about from it.
Discovering what is the most important in peoples lives is fairly easy. What won't you give up ?? I've walked away from almost everything I had at one time, except for the clothes on my back and a few things needed to survive. I have more now in Him than I ever had in the world. My relationships are real and much better because they are based upon love and not need, or weakness. Money, although needed to live, doesn't impress me. What people do with it can. Making lives better with it, instead hammering people down with it is how I see it being used wisely.
The cost of greed is to high for me. I prefer His Love and Mercy over sacrifice without repentance. That is what greed is to me sacrifice without repentance. One is willing to kill to gain what one desires, but shows no consideration for the cost to others.
Just the way I see it.
