I've been trying to get a message across to people that politics does not belong in Christianity for some time now, for at least 35 years ever since Jimmy Carter became the President. Not because Mr. Carter was such a bad Christian, in deed he is a fine Christian man, as such he was not willing to play the liars game in Washington with all the so called "christians" on the right and left.
No I've been saying that because we have become a nation that has allowed our politicians to shape our view of Christianity based on the politicians and those who buy them.
The Christianity of America has become "political christianity" to a large degree. Not because it needed to, but because the love of wealth has invaded the church's here in America as it did in Rome. The church is supposed to be the great equalizer, where there is neither, rich nor poor, man nor woman, slave or freeman, Grek nor Jew, ... because Jesus Christ bought us all through His great sacrifice and none of can add to it with anything we have, nor anything we do. We can only diminsh it through our fleshly ways, and make it seem less than it really is, which is the greastest gift ever bestowed upon mankind.
The forgiveness of our sins is through His propitiation, in taking our punishment on the cross, He made us acceptable through Him.
Think about that for a moment if you are a believer. He did it all for us, all we need do is accept Him and His Way to be forgiven and changed.
But the politicians and those who own them want you to believe that they have the answers, and that we have to follow them in order to acheive what we need. How many times have I heard in the last 32 years that the religious right have the answers in their candidates ?? I can't answer that, because I've tuned them out, for I know they are lying. They lied about all of their candidates being "conservative christians" they may have been conservative christians but they weren't conservatives and they certainly were not Christians.
They have derailed most of Christianity, in this nation into a political process, instead of the Way in Christ. They have made poilitical lies acceptable to some who claim to be Christians for their financial and worldly gains. While they have sullied the Way of Christ with their greed and avarice that are now the staple of the right wing christians.
Then we have the left wing christians who think there is no sin and that God forgives everybody for everything except those they don't like. They are no better. They try to make Christianity into a grace of sinning without repentance. Because everyone knows we can't stop sinning. They use Christ as an excuse to sin, because only He was perfect, so He knows we will sin. Yes he does know we will sin and He hates it, because He suffered for it already and everytime we sin we should remember that He paid the price for that. So we should shudder at the thought of making God suffer for us !!! I do !!!
Not because I sin so little, not because I'm saved, but because He suffered for my behaviors. He paid for my stupidity and greed, He paid for my lust, He paid for all of it, because He Loved me before I even knew Him. So because of that I Love Him, and do not want to sin, for there is no pleasure in it me for me anymore only grief !!
If that sounds like I'm saying our sin hurts Him it does. That is part of the reason I don't want politicians tying themselves to Him, and lying about how they Love Him, when by their very actions they show themselves to be liars. They promote greed and selfishness, as well as death and lies in order to win their seats in the worldly government, all the while they have been giving to the ones in power. The wealthy who think money is the god to be gained and worshipped by them.
We don't have very good choices this election. But we have choices. Mitt is not a Christian, nor is is his choir boy VP who is really an Ayn Rander.
President Obama I believe is a Christian, but the back slidden state he is in is clear to many. I'm just saying we should pray for our president and ask that he be guided to do what is best and what God wants done.
To me a vote for Romney is a vote for the evil one. That is how I'm given the discernment.
If you are given a different discernment then you follow what you are given. We will after all, all answer to Him in the end, He knows what is in our hearts and why we voted as we did.
Comments are welcom, disagreements happen, attacks shouldn't.
