A lot has been made over the laws and how we must obey them in order to be acceptable to God in Christ. This is the deception the false teachers love to use, because it makes people feel like they can be good enough in their own actions to attain God's approval and makes Christ's sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection just window dressing so to speak. Because if we can attain God's approval through our own works what need was there for Christ to die on the cross for our sins ???
Now there are some religious people who believe that through their works they gain God's approval and become worthy to approach Christ. They are works oriented instead of accepting the grace of God through Christ and being worthy through His works and allowing Him to direct us in our works.
Grace has never meant, one has permission to sin and it will be forgiven because, one has permission to sin as many think it is. Grace is the unwarranted forgiveness given by God through His Son Jesus Christ because He Loves us. Living in His grace is living in the faith of God's promise that all of our sins were taken by Christ and in Him we are made acceptable. So we repent of our sins and turn to Christ and ask for His forgiveness, and we believe He forgives us, we believe He changes us into a new Creation, we believe we are born again in The Holy Spirit, and we believe He will lead us to our works in Him for Him. The works we do are not forced by us, because He lives in us and we are governed by Him in the Holy Spirit.
So our works flow from Him and are of Him not of the flesh. That is why people who are of Christ have a problem with false teachers and deceivers who try and make people follow the law when they themselves cannot. They wish to ensnare the people and make them followers of them instead of Christ the Lord. I would rather die than have someone follow me instead of Christ, because I'm not their savior, He is their only Savior.
I am one of His followers a disciple of His and He gives me what I am to do. He will reach who He will reach as He will not as I will. I say this, lest someone think I want followers of me and try to make myself more than, I am a humble servant of my Lord Jesus Christ Who is The Way.
There has been a lot of deception and lies being bandied about by those who would try to make the ways of the world acceptable as being worthy of salvation. As if God winks at the sin and says -ahhh, it's okay you can come be with Me all those things in the Bible were just written to see if you'd believe them, My Sons' death meant nothing at all, and allowing Him to be mocked, scourged, beaten and hung on a tree while He was completely innocent. Well that was just My Way of showing how little He meant to Me, because all of your sins really mean nothing to Me. I mean after all who among you would not allow One they Loved to beaten, lied about, tortured, and sacrificed for no reason ??-
Yeah, that is a little heavy to think about. I know some will mock and deride the Truth in it, because it unsetles them. Others will just not accept it and think I'm off in my own litle world of fantasy. They have their rights to believe as they will. I would never try to force them to accept what I believe, because I can't, and it is not my job to do that anyway. See the grace also forbids me from forcing others against their will, because it then becomes legalism and is no longer God's grace, but mans forced legalism- false religion that destroys instead of builds-
The following is a list taken from the Nelsons Bible study out of Galations. I think it illustrates the difference between the law and grace very well.
Grace: is based on faith (2:16).
justifies sinful men (2:16, 17).
begins and ends with Christ (2:20).
is the way of the Spirit (3:2, 3, 14).
is a "blessing" (3:14).
is Gods desired end for His people (3:23).
results in intimacy with Christ (3:27).
makes one a son of God and an heir of Christ (4:6, 7).
brings liberty (5:1).
depends on the power of the Holy Spirit (5:16, 22, 23).
is motivated by love (5:13, 14).
centers on the cross of Christ (6:12).
Law: is based on works (2:16).
makes Christ nothing (5:3).
is the way of the flesh (3:3).
is a "curse" (3:13).
was intended to be only a means to an end (3:23).
keeps one a slave (4:7).
results in bondage (5:1).
depends on human effort (5:19).
is motivated by pride (6:3, 13, 14).
Now maybe some will see why I believe in not forcing non believers or believers to follow my beliefs. My ways don't save me. Jesus Christ saved me. The liberty I have in Him is from no man, nor can any man take it from me with any laws or beliefs they have. Because no matter what happens they cannot change what Christ did for we who believe and accept Him as our Lord and Savior. I live in His grace, and He alone is able to save me. So I do not fear the lies of the leaders, I despise their lies and I reject the lies. I pray for the leaders to receive His sight and be saved from their ways, I despise their ways but not them.
See, if one believes one must follow the law of Moses to be saved one is already lost for there is no salvation in the law of Moses. There is only the reality of seeing that we need our Savior Jesus Christ, because all of the animal sacrifices did not remove the sin from them or us, He did. It was the faith in God's promise that saved them, the blood of the animals was needed so they would see just how costly sin is, it allowed for a covering of the sin but not the removal of it. That was done by Jesus Christ on the cross. His blood was the only thing that could wash us clean and make us acceptable to God, because He is God the Son and in Him was no fault found. Thus He was the Lamb of God sacrificed for the cleansing of all time from all sins past, present and future, therefore salvation is found only through Him.
That is in the grace of God, the law of God was fulfilled in Christ. He now is the law keeper. We answer to Him whether we accept Him or not is up to us and we are called by The Holy Spirit to Him. So you see it really is all about individuals making their own choice as to what they want to live as. They can live as legalists posing as His but answering for the law they break. They can live as rejecters of Him and deny Who He is. They can live as religionists who think they can have grace and works as a mixed bag and think God will grade on the curve, or we can accept Christ as our Lord and Savior and abide in His grace and allow Him to change us into what He will have us be as we walk towards an eternity with Him.
I personally choose, we can accept Christ as our Lord and Savior and abide in His grace and allow Him to change us into what He will have us be as we walk towards an eternity with Him.
Perhaps some can see why I become so contentious with those who preach a false gospel and try to lead His away from Him, perhaps not. But it is done in His Love and not my flesh, yes I become angry at times because peoples eternity matter to me. It is not those who don't believe who arouse my wrath so much as those who try and lead people astray with their lies and false doctrines all the time claiming to be doing it for Him, when it is for their own gain in some way.
I do not wish to try to deny them their beliefs they can believe whatever it is they choose, but when they try and lead others into it and claim it is of Christ, I cannot remain silent. The Holy Spirit within me yearns to free them from the bondage they have placed themselves in , where I once was myself, I see them in now. Working in the flesh to justify their beliefs instead of allowing the Spirit to work in them and bring His work in them out.
No it does not mean that I'm better than them, nor that I'm favored above them. It means I'm His and have been cleansed, and His work is done in me, and I do the work He calls me to do for Him. Whether or not I am received well by those who lie does not matter to me, what matters is they know their lies are exposed. By knowing this they also know He is calling them out from their lies and they are being given the opportunity to listen to Him. Not to me, but to Him !!!
Open His word and see where He leads you, for He is the Way. Understand that not all the things in the Bible were meant to be viewed as being good in the way of God, when the eyes of your heart are opened you see that God's message is one of Love and forgiveness and of turning away from the fleshly ways to His Way. He has many examples of the evil done by men and women who think that the gain of the flesh is the goal to be acheived in this world. They believe in enslaving their fellow men for their financial or material and worldly gain. That is motivated by pride, the same sin the devil was cast out for.
Greed is a form of pride and it is also a form of lust, for it means that one thinks of themselves before thinking of God or any others. I know many think it is okay and justify it as being a motivator. It motivates people, to allow other people to die even when they work and try to support themselves and their families, as well as making themselves seem like they are more important than any other. Self preservation through work is not greed, it is the honest work of doing for ones self and others and making sure the compensation allows one to do the right things in life. There is a big difference.
After all the acrimony and lies spread during the last year and a half of the election process, I believe it is important for we believers to reinforce the Truth of Christ instead of the lies of the politicians the machinations of the political arms of this nation.
I pray that all who will come to Christ and receive His forgiveness. No matter what you have done in the past He still Loves you and wants you to come to Him and receive His gift of forgiveness. Even if you have rejected Him in the past, He will still accept you now if you truly ask Him. So for all who will. I give thanks in His name Jesus Christ.
