I was listening to a pastor give a study on sopme passages in 1 Corinthians and was really surprised to hear a conservative pastor say that the gifts of God are given to whom God chooses and God uses a variety of people to share His message.  He was talking about the different gifts we can receive through God's Holy Spirit

1Corinthians 12:4-11

⁴ There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. ⁵ There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. ⁶ And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. ⁷ But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:

The gifts I have are given to me to reach those whom God will have me reach.  The gifts others are given are to have God reach those whom He will have them reach.  We go about it in the Way that God calls us too as long as we are in Christ and not some false beliefs that lead away from Christ and God.  The manifestation of the Spirit is given for the profit of all.  We must remember though that not all are in the body of Christ and to them our gifts may seem foolish or false.  Yet by these gifts from God we may plant a seed or water it.

 ⁸ for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, ⁹ to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, ¹⁰ to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. ¹¹ But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

Too some we receive more than one gift and are able to be used by God in various ways, too others their gift is from God to reach others as He will have them.  There is no best or worst gift, for all the gifts are from God and as such are for Him to be glorified through His gift to us.  The thing is without all the gifts working in tandem as God calls us too we do not do His work.  

Now this pastor spoke about the different denominations and the different gifts, and he said how it was good to work together for God's will to be done.  I agree with him 100%.  Now I'm going to list 1 Corinthians 12:3

³ Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.

Sounds like anyone claiming Jesus Christ is being said to be in the Holy Spirit. But that is not at all what it means.  Many people claim a differnt Jesus Christ than Who is shown in The Holy Bible.  Those people are not in the Holy Spirit and are not speaking of the same Christ.  We have many here on Newsvine who think Mormons are Christians.  But the Mormons as an example do not speak of the Jesus Christ of the Holy Bible.  Their version of Jesus Christ is a man made lie and they cannot get to Christ because they do not know Him or The Holy Spirit, and therefore they do not know God the Father.

12:3 calls Jesus accursed . . . say that Jesus is Lord: A person truly speaking by means of the Holy Spirit will never curse Jesus; by the same token, no one can genuinely proclaim the lordship of Christ without the enabling of the Spirit. It is possible that some of the Corinthians were giving supposed "Spirit-induced utterances" in which they denigrated the physical, historical Jesus in favor of a "spiritual," heavenly Christ. This type of teaching would have been something like an early form of Gnosticism, a false teaching in the early church that viewed the body as evil and the soul as good.

In other words to deny the Christ of the New Testament and try to make Him as you believe Him to be is not believing in Christ.  It is beliving in your own wisdom which is considered foolishness by God. 

I will carry this a step farhther and say that to say that one must be a conservative or a liberal to understand Christ is to deny the Power of the Holy Spirit to reveal Christ as God wishes Him revealed.  I truly believe that a lot of good people are going to be disappointed come their reckoning because they believed Christ was either a conservative or a liberal and when they find out that God is God and has no use for the foolish politics of man they will be dismayed they spent so much time preaching it in church instead of preaching the unity of the body of Christ through Him and not through the politics of man.

Verses 12:1-2

12 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: ² You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led.

These dumb idols.  I can't think of a more appropiate description of the political parties mockery of Christ and God, as they try to align we Christians with a party instead of Christ.  To me nothing showed that more than the last election when the GOP/TP'ers actually ran Mitt Romney while claiming to be the party of God.

Yes I was very verbal about it, because to me they were mocking Christ by saying their way was better than voting for president Obama a Christian.

Now I know there will be those who still argue they have nothing to do with each other.  I have to wonder if they actually have a gift for the discernment of spirits or a gift of the words of wisdom given by God ??  I'm not trying to say they don't have gifts.  But if their gift is service or visiting the sick or those in prison then do so.  Allow we who have the gifts we have to use them as well for His glory not mans glory.

Discerning the spirit does not mean just accepting it because it is pleasing to you.  Discerning the spirit means to ask and understand what type of spirit it is.  That is from God and The Holy Spirit not our flesh.   Working together for Him means we use what He gives us and accept our gifts as His will for us.  I do not have the gift of toungues, some people pick up on foreign languages easily, I'm not one of them.  I don't have the gift of visiting the sick, or the visiting of the prisoners, I don't have the gift of healing.  I don't have the gift of cleaning.   The gifts I'm given are by Him and He knows what they are so I'm not threatened by people who wish to deny them.

I'll tell you what I discern and that is this.  There is a great divide in the church body of Christ because of politics and false doctrines being allowed to stand as being of Him.  It is not of the Spirit of God that these divisions are in place, but it is of the desires of God's enemy.  So what I see is that we must as the body of Christ unite in Him and reject the lies of the world against His Way.

No it will not be popular.  But neither is the True Jesus Christ for His Way is the narrow gate and the people want to go on the wide path and still believe they are of Him.
