Few can handle wealth and not be caught up in it's power to corrupt the way the money causes the wealthy to look at things. I've thought about it quite a bit as it has cost me: relationships, jobs, friends, family, ... Why, because to me wealth as far as getting a lot of money and material things is not what my life is all about. Yes I realize that it takes money to live, and it is getting more expensive to live everyday. But there again, who is causing that except for those who think that they need to have more than the next guy to be better then them ??
Isn't it funny-sad- that so many people think it is what they can buy that makes them acceptable ?? Look at our government and look at the tools that have been inserted by the wealthy to give them more of what they want instead of actually doing what is needed to make this country turn around, and begin to right itself by rejecting the oppulence of wealth as it is admired right now. Do the politicians realize they are serving mammon when they value position and wealth over serving the people as they are elected to do.
Things are only temporary and the newest thing only makes one happy for so long, then it is considered old and we must buy the newest thing in order to feel some kind of happiness. At least that is what I have seen in my seven decades on this planet. It didn't use to be so bad, people fixed things instead of throwing them away and buying the newest thing, but now we have become the consumer nation that has to have the newest junk.
I haven't seen more happiness from it. I've seen more wars, more anger and jealousy, more hatred and pettiness, less compassion and Love, less goodwill towards all mankind, and more fake churches gaining traction,as the false ones preach a morality based on greed and self satisfaction as long as they benefit.
Jesus Christ said this to those who said they would follow Him. Luke 12:22-34
22 Then He said to His disciples, "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. 23 Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. 24 Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds?
My wife gets angry with me because I don't worry about presenting myself as being well to do, or putting on a show of how much we are worth. I always tell her God has provided what we need and we are not hungry nor are we naked. We can share with others and can enjoy a night out once in a while.
Why aren't you thankful for what we do have instead of worrying about what we don't have ?? God has provided me with work that allows you to get the medicines you need, but still you want to be wealthy why ?? What does the money bring except a sense of being more valuable than another to you ?? Do you not understand that the more you have the more you want until you are never satisfied and there is no happiness or joy just the want of more ??
I'm using my wife because so many men or women-just transfer husband for wife- can identify with anology. What started off as a journey together has become a battle of differing opinions and most of it can be traced to the desires for material goods or wealth. I taught my daughters to love people more than money, because money is just a tool and people are alive. Wealth doesn't love you back, it is in fact cold because it requires more of your time and effort away from those who you say you love.
25 And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? 26 If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest?
I've seen people worry about a lot of things, their looks, their size, their height, the color of their skin, the way they are perceived by others, ... Yet these are things which they really have no control of. Still they worry about it and make all kinds of efforts to be seen differently as if what is seen is what God sees us as. I remember my daughters thinking they would grow up and not be what they are today because they could not see what I saw in them. I knew they would be beautiful I'd had the experience growing up and seing girls change from being pretty to being beautiful and I saw it in them. They were so worried about it and now look back and laugh at all the time they spent worrying about something that they had no control of. My grandaughters have done the same thing and their moms just have me talk to them like I did them. Three of them have already seen the changes I said would come about in them.
I just tell them not to worry God has a plan for them and they will see that and they will see that they are growing up and all the things they thought didn't fit before fit right now. In other words don't worry about the things God has control of you will look as He wants you too and it is for His glory not yours. So take that as it is and do not try to control God and His Way, you can't anyway, just accept Him and His Way and you will receive what He has for you.
27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 28 If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith? 29 "And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind.

I find it funny that so many "conservative christians" think this a Christian Nation when this nation has become based upon greed and treating oneself as if they are the most important person on the planet. God knows what we need, and even when I was at my worst places He always provided a way for me to live and see the promise of His Way being shown to be true. A little from Him is worth more than all on this earth for His Kingdom is eternal and all the things of this earth pale in comparison to even a little of His Glory. He is glad to give to us of His, His Kingdom for He has all that we ever need in Him and there is no shortage of what He has.
So why do so many seek the wealth of this earth as if it is of the most important thing to have when it perishes ?? Love and Compassion never lose their value, they in fact grow in value as it shows where we place our hearts. Gold and silver are cold and paper money will be burnt, in the end it is the Love and compassion of our hearts that is of value. Love gives mercy, compassion proofs Love.
The poilitics of lies continue to bring us into the hands of the coming anti-Christ, and no it is not just one party, but one party can be clearly seen as being worse right now. The GOP/TP'ers want to make it all about taxes and being able to favor the wealthy to make this country into their Fascist dream of control by wealth and social standardization, the Nazi's tried the same thing.
The coming beast will somehow deceive many because of their love of wealth and power and the things they think they deserve because they believe they are somehow better than other people and deserve more based upon their flesh. He is a politician and don't be deceived he knows how to speak to the people and promise them all the desires of their hearts if they will only bow down to him and worship him. The GOP/TP'ers have been trying to get us to bow down to their tax breaks for the wealthy for years, they have also said tax breaks for the wealthy creates jobs. They lie just the like anti-Christ will, they say they are for morality but have none when it comes to wealth, they are willing to let the elderly and poor die because it takes some of their wealth and they love it more than they love people.
When a nation has to bow down to a set of rules that favor a few and place many outside the standards that are the acceptable ways, beware because they are setting up a nation of Fascists. Look at the laws the "conservatives" want to impose in order for society to be acceptable to them. Abortion being illegal because they think it is a sin ?? They are not God !!! I don't believe in abortion so I don't advise it, but I'm not God either. He says we all must choose who we will follow. Not be forced to bow down to a false belief because of mans laws, but believe and live as we will because in the end we answer for what we do, and they will answer for what they do.
Look at their stance on homosexuals being recognized by the government which is a secular government by the way who cannot impose the religious beliefs of individuals into federal or state laws. Which I am so thankful to God for !! Otherwise we might have religious beliefs from many different religions as law and make all of them a joke of free will practice.
Look at what the GOP/Tpers are doing by saying no new taxes on the wealthy. They are saying they bow down to you and worship you mammon, please give "us" -those who bow down to the wealthy- our wealth to. Have they not sacrificed many to their god mammon in order to get their wealth ??
The elderly, the poor, the ill, the orphans, the widows, the broken workers who gave all they had all they had to give and are now told to just die because they no longer serve a purpose to the wealthy greed merchants ??
No, I will not pray for wealth for my children lest they become what those who worship their wealth have become.
I do pray for Compaasion, Mercy and Love, so they may know that God does fill us with what He will have us have, and to share that. Love is something that no-one can ever run out of giving as longh as they have it. Greed limits what one can give.
