I remember my dad telling me that when he and the other soldiers fought in WWII it was because this nation was attacked and you just don't attack us and our freedoms because we will fight back.
Now whether you agree with him or not, he went and fought with many others to make sure America remained free. We did it before then and we have done it after that.
My question is this. If they went to fight to make sure we remained free why are so many trying to take away that freedom and restrict us to what we can or cannot do ?? Freedom is not just a word it is an action. The act of freedom is to be free within the laws of society to believe and live as one will as long as we do no harm to others.
Well, by restricting peoples individual freedoms we are doing harm to others. By manipulating laws, and financial outcomes those in power can turn this nation into their own little divided nations, and cause the failure of those with whom they disagree by simply not allowing them to voice their opinions in a public forum where they may be heard and have their thoughts considered.
That may sound like a small thing to some, because they do not recognize that once you limit one persons freedoms, you limit your own by that much as well. It would be like me saying I don't want anyone with a certain name around me. That makes me less free because now I can't go certain places because a person with that name may be there. Sounds dumb right, but that is what restricting other peoples choices are, it is dumb !!
Now lets say for example I don't like Republicans and don't want to be around them, so I work to deny them their rights. What have I done except declare myself as having more freedoms to believe as I do than for them to have the same freedoms as I do. But lets say I don't believe the way they do and I discuss it without barring them from discussing what they believe. I have now acted in my freedoms without restricting their freedoms. I'm not saying they are less than me, nor that they don't have a right to believe as they will, I'm saying I don't agree with them and I'm using my freedoms to do so.
That doesn't mean that I think they shouldn't be able to say what they want, it means I have the right, just as they have the right to disagree and speak as to why we disagree. We don't have to agree with each other, but we do have to allow the other to discuss what they believe.
I'm a big believer in Freedom, I've been taught since I was a young child that the freedom to choose and believe as we will is important enough to be willing to die for to preserve for others of we need to. That is also something that Jesus Christ teaches us, that we are to die to ourselves and follow Him daily. Being raised with a love for freedom and having a dad, uncles, grandparents, cousins, myself, and friends who fought for the principles of this great country and our freedoms, I can't help but feel that many of our freedoms today are being taken as we are given security instead.
We are told we will protect you from the villians outside. But who is protecting us from the villians inside who wish to control us with their ease of just doing what we are told, while they take away our hopes and our childrens hopes for a better future.
We are being divided into nations on the vine, when we were once one vine. Doesn't that seem like a divide and conquer strategy ??
It is a picture of how we are being divided in this nation as well, the Tea Party Nation was a picture of it. Look at the actions of those who try to divide us and say that only the right wing or left wing are right. They are not for freedoms, they are for their beliefs and screw everyone else who doesn't believe like them. Once they have it their way they can make the laws try to reflect their values.
We are in some serious trouble when people forget that the major draw of America was the freedoms we have, and instead think it is wealth or the ability to control others.
Look at the statement about the nations here on Newsvine and you will see the words control those in the nations.
That is why I opened my own nation, not to control but to allow freedom anyone can join and discuss things without being an outsider.
This is just the way I see it.
Your comments are welcome and join the nation if you like.
