There are many reasons that churches as faith based organizations should not become politically involved with electing, or backing candidates of either party.
The number one reason is. The church is not their organization, it is supposed to be Jesus Christs and be centered on His Way and not the ways of man. So to me all these churches who backed candidates from either party dishonored the Head of the Church Jesus Christ, and placed their ways above His. These pastors who backed either candidates from their pulpits or with money from the church's funds, crossed over into the ways of the world and introduced satan as who they were following. Because they used Christ's meeting place to discuss who to vote for in this world and not Who to follow in order to be in the right place to discern who to vote for.
That may sound like double talk to some, but it is not at all double talk, it is the fine line we travel when we follow Christ, or the broad path that we stumble onto when it becomes our way instead of His Way we follow.
I'm known to be politically active, and I list the verses that cause me to believe as I do. But I'm not the pastor of a church of people who come to hear a message of God and Christ and instead deliver a sermon on the righteousness of the conservatives, or liberals. Because neither is righteous as far as their politics, their politics are the way of the world and the Way of God is through Christ. Thus in church, I want to present Christ as the Lord and the Way, not man and his politics.
But we have gotten a steady stream of political sermons especially from the conservatives over the last 34 years. Funny how much the country has deteriorated over that same span of time isn't it ?? We have "conservative" "Christians" who preach a political based christianty and a works based salvation based upon being conservative in our politics in order for God to bless this country, and instead of blessing we are receiving the punishment for the deeds we do while saying it is of Him. Not all conservatives.
Then we have the "liberals" who think they have to push back and say God doesn't belong in our country, and they introduce their own brand of political religion in which God isn't welcome at all unless it agrees with their views. Not all liberals.
Then we have the Church's in the middle who are trying to remain faithful to Christ and I say Hallelujah to them. For they are the ones who are doing His work and allowing His workers to do their called duty for Him. They are remaining centered on Christ, and when they do get involved with politics it is outside of church as a Christian who is led by the Holy Spirit. There is nothing wrong with that at all, and they do what they are called to and honor Christ in His place of gathering, then do His work outside of His place of gathering as well.
I see the right wingers are again at it, and saying they must do things their way, when they were kept out of the Senate majority and the Presidency, because the people don't want things done their way. They have gerrymandered the districts so they keep the house for rightn ow, but that again just shows that all their talk about Christ was just a smokescreen to get elected again, so they could continue to try to make America fail and bring about their ideas of slavery for the poor, and unfettered wealth for the few. With which they can continue to buy the government they want and divide the nation until they have everything they want and turn us into another vassal state of the new Roman empire.
Look at the wealth they are giving to China, China is the king of the east and we are feeding her the wealth to allow her to build her military. Look at the jobs taken from us and shipped to Pakistan, and other nations where the wealth will be used against us. Look at all the money that was shipped to Iraq and Afghanistan, instead of used to build our infrastructure and make America strong again. Look at the arms Reagan shipped overseas for the hostages and how they were used against us, look at the terrorists that the Reagan/Bush adminstrations supplied and trained while they allowed the USSR to rest in it's financial battle against us and to regain it's strength while we lost ours.
Look at the insanity of the Bush years and where we are now and how they try to blame President Obama. Remember GW Bush said God told him to go to war with Iraq. Who elected GW Bush, the same people who elected Reagan and GH Bush the right wing conservative "christians" who are so deceived that they can't see what was done under their voted in leadership.
They allowed men to tell them what God wanted from them instead of praying and asking God to lead them. That is why they ended up with Romney last time as I see it.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is keep the churches out of politics and allow the individuals to decide who they will vote for based upon their own beliefs and prayers.
Yeah I know, I'll receive some flak. Well I'm wearing my flak jacket. LOL
Comments are welcome, and will be looked at with a discerning eye based upon Him.
